A Visit to Gårdby Kafé & Lanthandel
A beautiful stop on Öland, a warm meeting with Maria, and a new chapter for KOCO and NKD APE.
Some places stay with you long after you leave them, and this was one of them.
I recently visited Maria at Gårdby Kafé & Lanthandel on Öland — a fantastic place with that rare feeling of warmth, personality, and calm that you notice straight away when you walk in.
It is the kind of place that feels deeply rooted in its surroundings. Thoughtful without trying too hard, welcoming without losing character, and full of details that make you want to slow down and stay a little longer.
Visits like this always remind me why I love being on the road with This Found. Meeting retailers in real life, seeing how they curate their spaces, talking about what people respond to, and watching our brands find their way into places that already have a strong identity of their own.
I was especially happy that they chose to bring both KOCO and NKD APE into the store, and the brands will be arriving shortly.
When we spoke about favorites, some clear ones appeared right away. On the perfume side, Discoteq, Gilded Nomad, and Carousel stood out. And from KOCO, Cashmere and Volcano felt especially at home in the space.
I always find that interesting — seeing which products naturally connect with a place, its atmosphere, and the people behind it. The right stockist is never only about shelves or placement. It is about a feeling, a rhythm, and a shared sensibility.
Gårdby has exactly that. A sense of ease, quality, and character that makes the whole experience feel personal.
These are the kinds of visits I want to keep documenting here — places, people, and moments that reflect what This Found is really about. Not just products, but the environments they live in and the people who make them meaningful.
I left feeling inspired, grateful, and excited to see KOCO and NKD APE soon become part of such a special destination.
If you want to follow their world, you can find Gårdby Kafé & Lanthandel on Instagram and Facebook.
