The Ritual Behind Our Week

Sunday at a local café

A Sunday Well Spent

Sundays have quietly become one of the most important parts of my week.

Kathryn and I almost always spend a good part of the day in a nice local café — the kind of place where time slows down just enough for ideas to settle. It has become a small ritual for us, and one I have really come to value. A coffee, something warm to eat, a table by the window if we are lucky, and then a few hours to reflect on the week that has passed and begin shaping the one ahead.

For me, that time is often where the planning starts to fall into place. I look back at the meetings, the conversations, the orders, the visits, and everything that moved during the week — and then I begin organizing what comes next. A big part of that is planning my sales routes, and lately that part of the process has become so much easier.

Coffee and planning in the café

Since getting our new route planner into the app, something that used to take a lot more energy now feels much more natural. What once involved a lot of manual thinking, checking, adjusting, and second-guessing now feels far more structured. It gives me a better overview, saves time, and makes it easier to build the week in a way that actually works in real life. That alone has changed a lot.

Sundays are also often when Kathryn and I sit down and make our production schedule for the coming week. It is usually not the most dramatic part of the business, but in many ways it is one of the most grounding. Looking at what needs to be made, what needs attention, what should move first, and how we want the week to feel — it brings a kind of calm to Monday before Monday even arrives.

Reflections on the week ahead

This Sunday felt especially good. For the first time this year, it really felt like spring was in the air. Not fully, not loudly — just enough to notice it. A bit softer light, a little more warmth, and that feeling that a new season is starting to open up. After a long winter, that shift always does something to you. It brings a little more energy, a little more clarity, and maybe also a little more optimism.

I think that is why I appreciate these Sundays so much. They are not only about planning. They are also about creating a bit of space. Space to think, to reset, to talk things through, and to make sure the week ahead is built with intention instead of just reaction. In the middle of running everything day to day, that kind of pause matters.

This time, with the feeling of spring just starting to arrive, good coffee on the table, and the week slowly taking shape between us, it felt like one of those simple moments that says a lot about how we like to work — close to each other, close to the process, and always trying to make things a little better, a little clearer, and a little more thoughtful.

First feeling of spring in the city

That is probably why a Sunday in a local café has become more than just a habit for us. It is where the week begins.
